Dickens 2 and such

I think I know what I'll do when it comes to this journal to my DA journal. I'll use the DA one for Friday Fans stuff and this for in regards to personal stuff and to type the shit (you see, instead of shooting the shit, I'm typing the shit) Ho, ho, ho (knee slaps)

Anyway...

Over the weekend, the Improv Corp staged their improvised verison of a Christmas Carol called Twisted Dickens. I always like working with the group in doing lights and sound. It's one of my favorite voice over gigs as well. I have the Friday Night show on mp3 over on the six dollar cookie site so if you want to listen, go check it out, also listen to the latest podcast recorded on Saturday Night/Sunday Morning.

Mike wrote on his journal about the upcoming Lupin podcast about Dead or Alive. I just watched it again in English, I'll probably watch the original verison tomorrow just because I might want to do a quick comparison review about the voice acting and such.

Time for some sleep....

Back into things

So... been awhile... It's too bad there is no such as internet cobwebs. If such thing were real, this journal page would be full of them. But anyhoo...

XWA had their first year anniversary show a couple of weeks back. I am really impressed at how far they have come since their first show in October 2007. This city is a great place to have wrestling in and I want to see it grow as much as possible.

I've been posting podcasts left and right since the last journal entry. Check them out, you'll be 100 times cooler if you do!

Mike's Lupin Y manga fandub projected just released the first part of the first chapter on youtube. Just type in Lupin Y Manga fandub. I am glad to be apart of it as the voice for Goemon!

Well, for Halloween I went as Hawkeye Pierce from MASH. If you're asking which one... since I just have a mohawk for hair, I decided to get a bucket hat and go as the Donald Sutherland verison of the character. I don't really think I can do the fast paced switch of going from humorfilled to maudlin like Alan Alda did in the TV series, plus... Saint John, New Brunswick is the birthplace of Sutherland, so it was a costume choice thinking of my city as well... ya, that's the ticket of an easy excuse.

Until next time,
-Ryan

This and that

It's been awhile since I posted an entry but as I am watching the electon results in Canada I figured I post something here.

By the way, I have a new podcast up at www.sixdollarcookie.mypodcast.com check it out, you'll become a super special awesome person by doing so!

Some of us in the real Friday Fans crowd are trying to organize a trip to Montreal in November to see Ring of Honor. I really hope we get this going. I've always liked ROH's product for years and I figured this would be the best time to finally see a show live and in person. I always try to talk about the company whenever I talk to a wrestling fan who asks what they could watch that they would be entertained by. For people reading this who are strictly WWE mainstream fans, I recommend checking out Ring of Honor.

On a Lupin III note, Mike and I will be talking about Funimation for our upcoming topic possibly being done on Monday. Our next topic after that will be the Green Vs Red OVA that was released this year. I'll go into my thoughts in more detail when we do that podcast but I can say that I really did dig a lot of things about it, from the animation and the music but I was not a really big fan of the story to some extent. I liked some of the ideals they were trying to go with but the execution of it at times were a bit a lacking and not satisifying in my opinion.

Until next time,
-Ryan

Oh, Brother... brother.

I posted a new podcast recorded on Saturday. Probably one of the best wrestling related podcasts that has been recorded since I started the podcast. I might have to use what Tom started for material of discussion for future roundtable podcasts.

Sunday was the XWA show at the Lord Beaverbrook Rink. What a fantastic show. From an opening match for the Hardcore title to a great main event for the Heavyweight title. I was glad to see the turn out they got dispite the rain and hurricane warnings in the area.
Highlights for me- well besides great wrestling action, seeing Teddy 2 Sweet giving my friend Rob a big hug and the production values in the videos.

Tonight, going to watch Cagilostro, subtitled for getting renewed insight for the next Lupin has three jackets episode next week... also... gotta get that review for the live action movie done hopefully this week.

Until next time,
-Ryan

Comic Party is a whacky series

Now that's a series I should bring up more on a podcast, though I doubt a lot of people that do the podcasts with me have even seen that series...

This weekend is the XWA show at the Lord Beaverbrook Rink. I am really looking forward to this show and again, I can't believe next month will be one year since the promotion started. They really have come a long way. I'll probably have a podcast or two made during the weekend.

For any Friday Fans fans reading this, I'll be posting some gag comics on a site for people to check out while the production of the actual series is going on.

That's it fo now, I'll probably have more to write about after the XWA show
Until next time,
-Ryan

The Man They Call Reveen
http://www.misterkitty.org/extras/stupidcovers/stupidcomics105.html I can't believe Reveen was famous enough to be made into a comic book! I don't know what's more absurd, this or that Punisher/Archie cross over that was made in the mid 90's. Well at least with Punisher/Archie you can be promised a combination of ass kicking action and good natured humor about trying to eat a lot of hamburgers.
Ohya, for anyone who reads this that are Trailerpark Boys fans, yes Ricky looks a lot like Reveen. For some reason the Trailerpark Boys has been a runner of easy to make jokes with me and my friends that have been heard on my podcasts. Making them so frequently that I've been using them in other places outsides of the podcasts like interviews and meeting new people.

Mike and I were trying to record our latest episode of Lupin has Three Jackets when his internet connection kept cutting in and out, distrupting the podcast quite a few times. We'll be looking to resume our discussion on Monday. I will try to put in a bonus thing of my review of the Lupin Live Action movie when the actual episode is up.

Tonight I am looking to be trying out the TNA video game with some of the other wrestling fans I hang out with. I keep hearing a lot of bad about the game. I might do a quick podcast to get the gang's reaction to this supposed horrible game. But really... could IMPACT be as bad as Simpsons Wrestling or WCW Backstake Assault? We shall see.

Until next time,
-Ryan

A new series with at least one short joke

I forgot to put this on my first entry about the recent (as of August 2008) news of a new Fullmetal Alchemist anime being made. FMA is one of my favorite franchises, the manga is my #1 favorite of it by the way. I wonder what they'll do... it can either be where the movie left off or it could be a brand new series based more on the manga. Either way, I can't wait!

Man, I got a lot of books to go through. The Moose That Roared, which is a story about Jay Ward productions which has made great cartoons like Rocky & Bullwinkle, George of the Jungle, etc. Also I got the original novel for MASH recently. I'm also re-reading the Bret Hart book which has been one of my favorite wrestler books and that has also gotten me wanting to re-read the Stampede Wrestling book.

I also recently saw an english translation of the first chapter of the Lupin Y Manga. I was quite impressed by it, even putting the title card picture as my desktop wallpaper. I'll be sure to talk about on my Lupin III podcast.

Until next time,
-Ryan

Random ramblings once again

Greetings to people who may come across this journal. After such a long time I'm getting back into journal entires and the like. It'll be about whatever I feel like writing whenever I feel like it.

First bit of info for this journal... On Monday I went to see the Live Action Death Note movie with people from Nerdio, a radio program related to nerdy stuff, which if you like hearing about that, they have their shows live each Wednesdays between 3pm-5pm Atlantic time on CFMH 107.3 FM if you live in Saint John, or if not, listen to the stream at www.unbsj.ca/cfmh/

My thoughts on the movie: I enjoyed it. As someone who has only seen bits and pieces of Death Note late night on YTV, seeing this movie has really gotten me interested in checking out more of the series both anime and manga. I was upset though that they showed a making of the movie before hand, kind of putting spoilers for new fans coming in and it was English voice acting over top original live action from Japan, which is something that I always have a hard time sitting through that I can just picture the voice actors in the recording booth as I am hearing it on film, though I have to give Brian Drummond credit on an excellent job as Ryuk.

i have an on the walk podcast with the people from nerdio pre and post of the movie, which you can listen at http://sixdollarcookie.mypodcast.com/index.html episode 24 titled "Apples?"

I'm not just an anime nerd, I am also a wrestling geek! I really like seeing Jericho as World heavyweight champion, although I hope CM Punk doesn't become either strictly midcarder or jobber to the stars now. This ladder match with Jericho and Michaels will really help make No Mercy a memorable show.

On the indy side of things: a promotion in my area, No Limits Wrestling had a show on Saturday at a community center and from what has been posted on their site, someone from City Hall saw the show and wasn't impressed and now NLW are not allowed to run shows there anymore. That is terrible in my opinion to see this happen. Wrestling, the good of it has always been something that helps support the community.

I'll be more than likely be doing a Lupin (pronounced Loo-pawn) has three jackets episode tomorrow. Mike and I have a great topic to talk about for this episode!

Until next time,
Ryan
